Around Commerce Township
The township holds numerous lakes, including 465-acre Union Lake, and the Huron River runs through it mostly north to south, past the roughly 3,000 acres of Proud Lake Recreation Area. It also contains the Village of Wolverine Lake, whose lake was created by damming small streams in 1923, along with named communities such as Commerce, Glengary, Oakley Park and Union Lake.
Walled Lake and Wixom sit on its southern border, and the northern end of M-5 is inside the township. Each year the Parks and Recreation department ushers in the holidays with a Tree Lighting ceremony.
