Holiday lighting questions, answered

The questions people usually ask before they book. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Timing and booking

How far ahead should I book Christmas light installation?

The earlier the better. Installs commonly run from October into early December, and booking in September or October gives you the most choice of dates. Later requests are still worth a call, but options narrow as Thanksgiving gets close.

When do the lights go up and come down?

Most installs happen between October and early December, so the display is ready for the season. Takedown happens after the holidays, commonly in January.

What happens if the weather is bad on install day?

Michigan fall weather is part of the job, and crews work in the cold. When ice, heavy rain or high wind make roof or lift work unsafe, we reschedule and let you know the new plan.

Estimates and service

What is included in your service?

Design, installation, in-season service and takedown after the season. Your estimate spells out exactly what is included for your property.

How do estimates work?

Estimates are free. Call us or use the request form, and we will look at the property, plan the layout and send a written estimate.

Do commercial projects start with a walkthrough?

Yes. Commercial, HOA and municipal projects start with a site walkthrough to look at the buildings, trees, power and lift access. The concept design and estimate come from that visit.

What if some lights stop working during the season?

Call us. In-season service is part of what we do, and we will set up a service visit for the section that went out.

Your property

Do I need HOA approval?

It depends on your association. Some have rules about exterior lighting, especially permanent fixtures, so check your guidelines. Our estimate describes the layout, which gives your board something clear to consider.

Can you reach tall trees and two-story rooflines?

Yes. Bucket-truck crews handle tall trees, steep peaks and two-story rooflines wherever the property allows. During the estimate we check access, ground conditions and anything overhead.

Do I need extra outlets or power?

Often not. During the estimate we look at where your exterior outlets are and how circuits are shared, then plan the layout around them. If a design needs more power than you have, we will tell you before installation.

How should I prepare for installation?

Make sure the crew can reach exterior outlets, gates and the areas being lit. Keep the driveway clear if the bucket truck needs it, and tell us about pets, locked gates or anything fragile near the house.

Permanent, landscape and service area

What is the difference between permanent and seasonal lighting?

Seasonal lights go up in the fall and come down after the holidays. Permanent lighting mounts in a discreet track under the eaves and stays up all year, controlled from an app. Seasonal suits a classic December display. Permanent suits people who want lights for more occasions.

Do you offer landscape lighting?

Yes. We design and install landscape lighting that highlights architecture, trees and walkways after dark, all year. It can be planned alongside your holiday lighting.

What areas do you serve?

Southeast Michigan, centered on Oakland, Genesee and Livingston counties, plus nearby communities in Wayne and Macomb counties. If you are not sure, send your address and we will confirm.
