Around Flint
Flint gives a lighting designer plenty to work with. Carriage Town and the Grand Traverse Street District, on opposite sides of the river just west of downtown, hold many well-preserved Victorian homes whose rooflines reward a careful layout. Downtown, Saginaw Street runs on its original 1898 brick, relaid by the city from Court Street to the Flint River, a warm backdrop for lit storefronts.
On the East Side, the College and Cultural Neighborhood surrounds the Cultural Center, which hosts a free Holiday Walk each December; the 40th annual walk in 2025 opened with a tree lighting ceremony. Good lighting here takes its cues from the buildings themselves.
