Around Flushing
Flushing's history is easiest to see on Main Street. The Main Street Historic District, listed on the National Register in 1983, runs from Maple Street to 628 East Main, with Italianate storefronts and homes that range from Greek Revival and Queen Anne to Colonial Revival and bungalow.
The Flint River curves along the south and west sides of the city, crossed at Main Street by a concrete arch bridge finished in 1922. In early December the Flushing Candlewalk fills the streets with candlelight and Santa arrives in a Parade of Lights.
